Summary of Position
The Director of SEO & Content Marketing leads the strategy, execution, and evolution of all SEO and Content Marketing for the home services vertical, with a focus on measurable growth in organic traffic, leads, and revenue for our clients. This role owns the SEO and content playbook, defines the future of search in an AI-driven landscape, and builds scalable systems, teams, and workflows that deliver consistent, high-quality performance.
You will oversee a team of SEO & Content professionals, fostering accountability, clarity and continuous improvement while developing future leaders. In close collaboration with other departments, you will align cross-channel strategies, support complex client conversations, and help scope opportunities that grow SEO revenue and position the agency as a cutting-edge leader in home services marketing.
Position Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
- Own and evolve the agency's SEO and Content Marketing playbook for the Home Services vertical, with a heavy emphasis on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Define the future direction of SEO, adapting to AI, zero-click search, and evolving SERPs
- Ensure SEO and content strategies are tied to measurable business outcomes, including revenue growth, lead generation, and client ROI
- Define and continuously refine the department's organizational structure to support scalable growth, efficiency, and clear career path progression
- Identify and lead new SEO initiatives, service offerings, and testing frameworks to drive innovation and improve organic performance
- Provide industry thought leadership, ensuring the team stays current with evolving SEO techniques, search engine algorithm updates, content trends, AI best practices, and emerging technologies
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and manage a team of managers and individual contributors, effectively addressing underperformance while developing future leaders
- Build a high-performing culture rooted in accountability, clarity, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Establish clear performance expectations, KPIs, and career development pathways
- Oversee ongoing education and training initiatives to ensure the team remains highly skilled in modern SEO and Content Marketing practices
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for the department, helping identify talent that supports long-term team growth
Operational Excellence & Resource Management:
- Own forecasting, resourcing, utilization, and margin performance across SEO and Content Marketing services
- Define and implement capacity planning model to ensure appropriate staffing across client accounts and internal initiatives
- Oversee the procurement and implementation of SEO tools and technology, identifying opportunities for AI and automation, workflow improvements, and performance tracking
- Build scalable systems and workflows to support consistent, high-quality service delivery to our clients
- Assign new client accounts to SEO team members based on expertise, workload, and client needs, while managing account transitions and onboarding processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with the Solutions team to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and attribution across all service lines and campaigns
- Collaborate with Paid Media, Web, Client Success, and other departments to streamline cross-functional processes, align marketing strategies, and improve execution
- Ensure SEO insights inform website development, redesigns, and broader marketing initiatives
- Provide input on integrating AI and automation across departments
Client & Revenue Support:
- Translate SEO performance into clear business outcomes for external stakeholders
- Lead high-stakes client conversations with confidence, pushing back when necessary
- Serve as the strategic advisor and escalation point for enterprise level accounts alongside Client Success Directors, as needed
- Support the Sales team in scoping SEO opportunities, helping define strategy, resource requirements, and realistic performance expectations
